Art Statemen:
Sandra Marson lives in Jacksonville, Arkansas. She has a BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Marson is a member of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists, Arkansas League of Artist and Arkansas Artist Registry.
Marson describes her paintings as colorful abstracts designed to create an emotional response and convey feelings of movement. Her abstracts are built from the of elements of design. The artist works often using asymmetrical composition which gives the illusion of depth by overlapping planes creating a sense of pure and unabridged energy and motion.
Marson has been influenced by the large collection of underwater photos she took while diving in the Caribbean. they are images of spectacular color from a world few people will experience. Most of Marson's work is what watercolorist, Pat Dews describes in her book as "Overall Patterning" a format considered difficult to do, as you must have shapes and colors that weave together and brings unity. Often there is no center of interest to draw you someplace in particular. The whole painting has to work harmoniously.
Marson is one of the exhibiting artists at the NCA Art Gallery in Fair Field Bay. Her works has been shown in other galleries such as the Arkansas Art Center and the Historical Art Museum.
This is the secondary branch of the William F. Laman Public Library located in the heart of the Argenta Arts District of North Little Rock.
