Mental Health Awareness
Community Defense Against Partner Abuse Workshop
Saturday, October 03
3:00pm - 6:30pm
William F. Laman Public Library
Lecture HallJoin us for an afternoon of peer-led conversation, bridging gaps in mental healthcare access, and the healing power of music and storytelling.
Let’s be real: scenes aren’t immune to toxic behavior, control, and abuse. And the road to receiving mental healthcare isn’t always clear.
Join us for a peer-led conversation on how to spot the red flags of partner abuse, safely intervene when a friend is hurting, actively unlearn our own toxic habits, and navigate the search for mental healthcare. This workshop aims to build a blueprint for radical accountability, real boundary setting, and collective safety. Come for the resources and stay for the community. Thank you to our friends Riot Dogs and members of our community for hosting this workshop.
Free resources from the Eaton Agency, Lightwell Therapy, the library, and more will be available. Due to the nature and themes of conversations expected, this workshop would be best suited for older teens and adults, ages 16+. Decompression space, ear plugs, and sensory assistance items will be made available to participants. No registration is required; attendees are only asked to be open, honest, and respectful.
For more information, please contact Jamie, jmiddleton@nlrlibrary.org, or our workshop organizers Rachel, rachelwaylan@gmail.com, and Eric, ericlrar@gmail.com.
