Kim Perkins and Laura Powers first met in Junior high over 50 years ago. Kim was the quiet, unassuming daredevil; Laura, the dependable rule-follower. On paper, an unlikely pair-but their bond, sparked by creativity and sustained by laughter, has only deepened with time. Today, both are award-winning artists and signature members of Mid-Southern Watercolorists.
They still paint together weekly, sharing honest critiques, inside jokes, and a connection strengthened-not diminished-by decades of life, change, and growth. Despite the years and galleries behind them, they still see one another as they did in that art room long ago. The Art of Friendship is more than a title. It is a celebration of shared history, artistic evolution, and the joy of growing older without ever quite growing up.
This exhibition reflects two artists whose friendship remains as vibrant, enduring, and surprising as their work. We invite you to celebrate the art, the stories, and the laughter behind it all.
