Travel back in time and experience the excitement of the first moon walk! Snacks provided, pajamas encouraged.
Over sixty years ago, the Apollo 11 mission took three astronauts to the moon, where Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on its surface. While the library can't take you to outer space, we can relive the excitement of the live broadcast of this historic event. We'll play groovy sixties tunes and and enjoy some retro snacks before diving into the moon landing footage. Most Americans watched the moon landing live in the evening, so make it an authentic event and wear (library-appropriate) pajamas!
Registration is encouraged - if you register, you get a reminder before the event, and we know how many snacks to buy!
This event is part of One Community, One Book, a celebration of the book Hidden Figures. Join us from February 17th to March 21st for events exploring math, science, Black and women's history, and the Space Race.
