Andrew Deiser presents New Beginnings

Deiser's Artist Statement

On March 19, 2025, the St. Joseph Center of Arkansas—where I had my studio/gallery— suffered a catastrophic fire that damaged both my studio and artwork. Fortunately, I was showing some of my paintings at the Arkansas Surgical Hospital when the fire occurred, allowing me to include them in this exhibit. Following the fire, I decided to focus on interior scenes from my home and used gouache as my medium since I paint more quickly with it. I’ve also included a couple of paintings from a family vacation to Spain last summer and three oil paintings (the ones marked not for sale) that normally hang in my home.

Although I dearly miss seeing my colleagues at the St. Joseph Center and being able to work in my studio/gallery there, I have decided to view this event as an opportunity to rebuild my painting inventory revisiting old subject matters with fresh eyes and seeking out new subject matters. I’m exciting about where my creative muses will take me in 2025 and beyond!

Deiser's Bio

Andrew Deiser is a contemporary American impressionist oil painter located in Central Arkansas. Following a full career in academia, he decided to follow his passion and pursue a second career in fine art. He enjoys painting both en plein air and in his studio. His work captures the stark and subtle contrasts between light and shadow and the mood of scenes in landscapes, florals, and interiors paintings.

In Summer 2018, he was invited to be the artist in residence at the Indiana Dunes National Park. In May of 2023, he attended the Plein Air of Eureka Springs event and won the Best New Artist award, and in August of that same summer he participated in and won the Mutual Insurance Purchase Award at Paint It Fresh: The Fort Wayne Plein Air Competition and Sale Event. He has also exhibited his work at local venues such as the Community Bakery, Laman Library, Oakcrest Wealth Management, and the Arkansas Surgical Hospital.

Andrew currently paints and teaches out of his studio/gallery located in Downtown Little Rock. To continually hone his skills, he received personal mentoring from a local artist for eight years and has taken workshops from nationally known artists, such as Brian Mark Taylor, Lori Putnam, and Anne Blair Brown.
