Celebrate freedom and explore printmaking techniques inspired by West African Adinkra Symbols, which have meanings derived from folklore and sayings.
Celebrate freedom and explore printmaking techniques with the North Little Rock Mobile Makerspace.
Juneteenth in Da Rock
Saturday, June 21 | 11:00AM to 5:00 PM
Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, Downtown Little Rock
This printmaking activity is inspired by Adinkra Symbols from Ghana and West Africa. Each symbol has a meaning, often tied to a common saying or folk stories.
Traditionally, these symbols were stamped onto cloth to demonstrate the wearer's values. Today, Adinkra are incorporated into modern architecture, jewelry, clothing, and advertisements. They are even used in the costume design of Marvel's Black Panther series.
