In this digital design class, you’ll learn how to transform fonts, photos, and more into stunning vector designs that can be brought to life using our advanced tools in the makerspace.

In this digital design class, you’ll learn how to transform fonts, photos, and more into stunning vector designs that can be brought to life using our advanced tools like the CNC router, laser cutters, engravers, and screen printing. This beginner class is your opportunity to learn how to create a vector image using the vector design software Affinity Designer. Our instructor will also provide outlines for InkScape and Adobe Illustrator. We can't wait for you to unlock your creativity and showcase your skills! Feel free to bring your own laptop to retain your settings. If you bring your own laptop you will need to have the software Affinity Designer installed before class.

Preregistration Required.

In this hands-on class, you'll learn: 

  • What Vector Design is.
  • Why Vector is necessary for CNC, Screen Printing, and Laser Cutting.
  • How to use the basic interface of the Affinity vector design program.
  • How to create simple and complex shapes.
  • How to create paths and curves.
  • How to apply this knowledge to create a simple design in vector software.

  • Supplies: All materials included (a personal laptop is suggested for anyone who would like to retain workstation settings)
