Learn about the Gee’s Bend quilt makers and create a paper collage in the style of their art.
The quilts made in Gee's Bend, Alabama are known all over the world for their significant contribution to American art. The patterns play with color and texture, and while many of them follow traditional patterns, several are improvisational and unique to their style. Quilts often inspire other art forms, including paper craft.
For our final art club session, we will be making our own paper quilts through collage, either choosing a traditional pattern, modeling the design off of a Gee's Bend quilter, or improvising your own pattern.
No experience is needed, and all materials will be provided.
